Gothic Mede Academy

Year 4 - Birch & Hazel

Looking back over the last term, it has been wonderful to watch the children develop both academically and personally, becoming mature, independent learners. The progress we have seen has made us really proud, and we are really looking forward to seeing what the next term will bring.

Year four have lots to look forward to this term with many pupils attending Young Voices at the O2 arena on Thursday 23rd January and taking part in Bikeability on Friday 31st January.

In addition to this, we have some exciting topics that we will be covering in the first half of the term! In DT we will be making models of pavilions, learning about the Anglo-Saxons in history and learning about States of matter in Science.

This term will see a change to the days we have PE, with indoor PE being taught by sports specialists on a Monday afternoon and outdoor PE moving to Friday. In this half term, the pupils will be covering Yoga and tennis. Please make sure they have warm clothes for outdoor PE as we will aim to go outside whenever possible.

In English this half-term, we will be creating our own newspaper report based on ‘the creature’. We will also give pupils the opportunity to reflect on their year so far, considering their successes and the next steps in their learning journey by creating their own reports.

If you would like to speak to us at any time, please do not hesitate to be in contact.
